Where were you when I was crashing down?
Your voice could’ve stopped this erruption.
One more look my way might’ve saved me.
You know I wouldn’t self-destruct for just anybody.
So I’ll stand in the spot where we first met,
And cherish the room in which we first kissed,
And treasure the time we once shared.
When love finds me again,
I won’t be afraid.

  1. "You know I wouldn't self-destruct for just anybody."

GREAT line! It captures the speaker's pain, yet a sense of selfishness, too--kind of like holding someone emotionally hostage: "Do what I want or someone will be hurt, even if that person is me" -- and loops back around again. GREAT idea!

Then, in those last two lines, the cycle is broken. There's a sense of hope and growth. LOVE THAT.
