Leap of Faith by: Surai DeJesus

An outgoing spirit with a confident poise

Her courageous risks full of doubt

An excited talent still new and insecure

Quiet and shy while holding the perfect stance

The dance of many nights of practice

The leap of bravery and self assurance

The uncertainty closed off in her mind like a broken zipper spreading fear

The same skills as before with out there attempts

Failure or success

The picky on lookers watching her adventure across the stage
Her graceful jump
A beautiful turn
Relief

  2. "...uncertainty closed off in her mind like a broken zipper spreading fear" is wonderful. The idea of fear being held back by a piece of cloth and the zipper breaking--with fear bursting forth-- is fantastic. Excellent choice of phrasing.

  3. This poem is relatable with pressure of how people expect you to do and how you expect your self to do. That moment where you just got to stop fixing all your what ifs and just go for it.
