E-Harmony
Are you feeling desperate,lonely,ugly?
How about lazy and pathetic?
One Suggestion; E-Harmony.
E-Harmony is for those who love awkward moments
with chirping sounds in the backround
A place where people who feel as lonely as someone
dancing by themselves at prom are always welcome.
For those who won't mind when they think
they have found the girl of their dreams
but when you actually meet "she" is actually
a 50 year old transexual
Being rejected for the 72nd time can suck, so
its time for a change.
Yay E-Harmony!

ReplyDeleteStraight up awsome...and probably true
ReplyDeleteWitty; I like it.
ReplyDelete"dancing alone" -- very lonely, isolated image. Pairing that with "at prom" makes the image more powerful in a couple of ways: 1. there is a sense of many people around and the lone dancer (lonely in a crowd of un-lonely), 2. placing the location at prom brings the reader to his/her high school insecurities, which is a powerful time for many people, 3. adds an element of satirical humor -- because there is a feeling that the person in the poem is dancing alone and it is his/her fault. As a reader, I'm left feeling feeling sad for my former high school self's errors in love...and yet I am laughing at them, too! To be able to do all of that in one line? Excellent!

I love how this poem talks about the worst situation you can be in when you use E-harmony. Also it is an ironic poem for Valentine's Day because it talks about doing anything to be in love.
ReplyDeleteI like how upbeat this poem is. It sounds like one of those commercials, with the questioning beginning and the cheer at the end. It's fun sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect example of how you should write about things in your life that you know well and this is definately the story of your life. Haha just kidding. I love this poem! So funny; and so true! I love how you spun humor into such a pathetic situation.

ReplyDeleteI love how you used humor to compensate for the awkward situations. This is a type of a poem that someone will remember after reading because of it's sarcasm and how sadly some of this most likely has happened to someone haha :).
